Welcome crafty friends to our October team blog hop! I'm so excited to see what everyone has created with the theme 'Celebrate', which I've left open to interpretation meaning you could see Wedding, Birthday, Anniversary, Holidays and so on! Let's get started!
Here's a look at my finished card.
I decided to try a fun-fold card with a faux belly band and what that means is it looks like the band goes around the card....but it doesn't. For another fun fold, check out my previous post.
There's a lot of visual interest in my card, from the patterned to the embossed papers, the stamping, trim & jewels. It all works because the colours coordinate - thank you Stampin' Up!
Card Details (in inches)
Base, band & tag: Gorgeous Grape cardstock - cut to 4 1/4 x 8 1/2, score at 5 1/2, for the band, 1 1/4 x 4 1/2, score at 1, and tab 1 1/4 x 2, then emboss the band & tab using the Stitched Greenery die. I cut the tab using the Tailored Tag punch, however you can leave the end straight. You may have to cut a bit from the tab depending on where you place the sentiment layer.
Layers: Hand-Penned DSP cut to 2 3/4 x 4, adhere to card, then add glue to only about 1/8" of the tab and place it on the left side of the DSP, making sure it's at the same height as the band. Highland Heather cardstock cut to 2 1/2 x 4 then emboss using the Meadow Moments embossing folder. Next adhere the 1" part of the band to the back of the embossed cardstock, then adhere to card. Cut Basic White to 2 3/4 x 4 heat emboss sentiment in black using A Grand Kit stamp set and stamp floral image in Highland Heather.
Greeting Layers: heat emboss the greeting in silver onto Vellum. You'll need a scrap of Basic White approximately 2 x 3. Cut the Vellum and Basic White, and also a piece of Gorgeous Grape & Highland Heather - all from the Tasteful Labels dies. Next emboss the Gorgeous Grape piece using the Stitched Greenery die. Stamp in Gorgeous Grape onto the Highland Heather piece with the large floral stamp from Hand-Penned Petals. I stamped it twice to cover most of the piece.
Close the card, then adhere the Gorgeous Grape piece onto the band making sure the glue or tape runner only covers the part of the band it touches. Next, pop up the Highland Heather piece using Dimensionals - not glue - the tab fits between the Gorgeous Grape & Highland Heather pieces.
For the greeting - heat emboss sentiment from A Grand Kit in silver onto the vellum. Then carefully glue or use tape runner to adhere the Vellum to the same size of Basic White. You don't want to see the glue through the vellum. Once glued, turn over the piece and adhere several glue dots to the Basic White. Next, wrap the silver trim around 3 fingers, creating loops then leaving a bit of a tail, cut from the roll. Place the loops onto the Basic White piece that has the glue dots. Once you're happy with the look, add Dimensionals to the back of the piece, trying to avoid placing them on the trim. Lastly, add a few 2021-2023 In Colour Jewels.
