A Punch, A Die and Embossing Powder.....

...walk into a bar.  I couldn't resist!

Happy day after an amazing long weekend! I hope you had a fun! In addition to the cards today, I would like you to scroll to the info blocks just past my video, where you'll find an offer too good to pass up!

I'm featuring the lovely Very Versailles stamp set.  It's another one of those sets you may not have missed in the catalogue.

There was a reason for the title of my post - and it's because of what I used for each card, going from quick & easy to stepped up.  Two cards are pictured below, and the 3rd is in the YouTube video linked below.

Here's the quick & easy card!

I used:
Paper - Whisper White Thick
Ink - Sahara Sand, Mossy Meadow
Tools - 1" punch

My second card - a bit stepped up
I used:
Paper - Mint Macaron, Whisper White, Basic Black, Garden Lane DSP
Ink - Mint Macaron, Tuxedo Black Memento
Tools: Basket Weave embossing folder, Stitched Shapes Dies, Layering Circles Dies
Embellishment - Braided Linen Trim

Additional supplies for the cards - Multipurpose Glue, Dimensionals, Glue Dots

Check out the making of all 3 cards on YouTube

Just for You Watercolour Words Stampin' Up!

Do you ever have one of those days when you know you need to do something but you can't quite put your finger on it?  I hope you just said yes 😊

At our monthly team meetings, we pick a card challenge for the following month. I remembered that part LOL.  The part I forgot was to post it on our group page before the meeting.  Soooooo, when I started seeing pics of new cards, at first I couldn't figure out what was going on.  But then, thankfully, the lights came on....teehee!

Without further ado, here's the card I made for the challenge - which, by the way,  was to choose a colour you don't really like and also, to heat emboss.  Sounds easy, doesn't it.  It wasn't though, however I decided on Garden Green.  Naturally, now that I've used it, I really like it!!  And as for heat embossing, I admit, I've been avoiding it. Read on....

With my Garden Green ink pad in hand, I stamped the fabulous floral image from the Wood Words set onto Very Vanilla cardstock.  I actually stamped it several times - a few times directly from the ink pad, and a few stamped off.  That means I inked up the stamp, then stamped onto my grid paper, and then onto the cardstock for a light/dark effect,  I love that look!

I chose the sentiment from Watercolour Words - so pretty!  I've always loved the 'magic' of heat embossing, and done in Gold Embossing powder, can I just say, WOW!!!  And it was so easy!  I promise to heat emboss often!  After embossing, I used my Stitched Shapes Framelit to die cut the oval, then popped it up with dimensionals!  For added bling, I used my Faceted Gems.

A Note for You, plus Embossing Paste

Two words - cold feet!  Brrrrr it's a chilly day for July! Although, having said that, it's a nice break from humidity.  Well, as it's a bit overcast, my card today is a nice little pick-me-up!

I completely underestimated how much I would love Embossing Paste!  Honestly, when I first saw it in the catalogue actually flipped the page!!!  True!  But since then....it's been love love love!

I made three different shades Embossing Paste using Island Indigo, Lemon Lime Twist and Daffodil Delight.  Then applied small amounts over the Pattern Party Decorative Mask taped over the Whisper White cardstock, until all the colours had been used.   Notice the mixing of colours on the card front that made even more shades.  Love it!

When the embossing paste dried, I adhered it to the Island Indigo base.  The sentiment, from Wood Words, was stamped in Island Indigo, then die cur using an oval from Stitched Shapes Framelits.  I used a larger oval from the same framelit set for the sentiment layer.  Those three little Glitter Enamel Dots added a sweet little touch of bling. So pretty!

Happiest of Days

A week or so ago I decided to do something that I've wanted done since I was a teen.  Here's the story: I have two baby teeth which is apparently not all that uncommon. Well, these baby teeth are large, thus crowding the teeth in my lower jaw.  So, I had those two teeth removed yesterday, and as it turns out, I am a BIG BABY!  I wanted attention, someone to take care of me, bring me homemade applesauce I made the day before and blankets and, and and..  See - big baby.  But, that was yesterday.  Today I'm almost back to being my usual self.  By the way, the story doesn't end here.  In a few weeks I'll be sporting braces.  Not the train-track kind, they'll be invisible.

Enough about my teeth, and on to today's card!  I've been having so much fun playing with the new Embossing Paste from Stampin' Up! Creating cool textured backgrounds is a snap!  You'll soon be seeing more cards I've made using the Embossing Paste.

This 'diamond' pattern was achieved using one of the Pattern Party Decorative Masks.  I used Washi Tape to hold down the cardstock and mask, then applied the Embossing Paste using SU's Palette Knives.  How easy is that!!

Isn't this font lovely!  The stamp is from the Happiest of Days set <--gorgeous stamp set!!
Once I stamped the sentiment, I die cut it using my Stitched Shapes Framelits.  I had previously die cut flowers from the Support Ribbon Framelits Dies, and on a whim, placed them behind the die cut sentiment.  Pretty darn tootin' cute!

A close up of the texture.   What's also great about this is if you don't yet have a Big Shot, adding Embossing Paste to the card will give your cards pizzazz!
