Stampin' Up! Gorgeous Posies - Retiring!

Hi and welcome crafty friends!  It's time again for our Stamping Symphony Blog Hop and this month our theme is retiring products.  It's sad to say goodbye to some of our favourites, but the good news is, you pick up these products at a reduced price at my online store!

One of my most loved stamp set is Gorgeous Posies.  No matter what colours I use, the end result is always fabulous!  I wanted an elegant look for this card, thus chose Smokey Slate & Basic Gray.  By the way....it's a quick & easy card to make!

Did you notice the 5 retiring products on my card?  I'm especially sad to see the Stitched Shapes won't be in the upcoming catalogue.  Also retiring - the Dainty Diamonds 3D embossing folder.  Sooooo pretty!

I should mention, the fussy cutting was a breeze!

Stampin' Up! a Big Basket of Blooms!

It seems I can't stop playing with this stamp set!  If you flipped past it in the catalogue, you may want to take another look at Basket of Blooms!

For this card I stayed with the same subtle theme as I did on my previous post, but used the basket image this time....plus a few more goodies!  I started with a Whisper White Thick cardbase, then stamped the basket in Smoky Slate, and fussy cut it.

The full sentiment, from Gorgeous Posies reads 'Wishing you comfort & peace at this time'.  The person I was thinking of for this card is very much in need of comfort, thus my decision to shorten it.  I heat embossed using Silver Stampin' Emboss Powder, then fussy cut the sentiment to what you see now.

Next, using Blushing Bride ink, I stamped one of the flowers onto In Good Taste DSP and then cut them with the Small Bloom Punch.  I'm finding so many fun ways to use this DSP and loving how you can see the texture on the paper giving the flowers a more realistic appearance!

The solid white pieces you see were cut using the Forever Flourishing dies.  I love the whimsy the  smallest greenery brings to this card!  Similar to my previous post, I used the Forever Gold Laser-cut Specialty paper - the white side of the open greenery.  Next came the fun part - adhering all the parts!  First to go into the basket were the large leaves - adhered using Glue Dots.  I popped up 3 of the flowers with Dimensionals, and for the 4th, I used a Glue Dot.

Oh my goodness!  I will go through so many packages of Elegant Faceted Gems.  They're so pretty and add just the right amount of bling!

Stampin' Up! Elegant Basket of Blooms Card

Hello and welcome to my blog!  Today I have another card to show you using the Basket of Blooms stamp set. In my previous post  I made a fun card, full of colour, so for this card, I wanted to offer a subtle elegant card.  This is the type of versatility I love in stamp sets!

When I'm making a no layer card, my preference is to use Whisper White Thick cardstock.  To create the subtle watercolour wash, I put one drop of Magenta Madness ink on an acrylic block, and used one of the new Water Painters to apply the colour.  That one drop of ink needed to be diluted with water to achieve the colour, and I tested it on scrap paper before moving to the cardstock.

Tip: As this isn't watercolour paper, you want to make sure to use just a few brushstrokes on the paper, otherwise the paper will pill from the water in the ink.

As mentioned, I wanted a subtle look, so Smoky Slate was my choice of ink.  The greenery was stamped and cut using the Forever Fern bundle.  The other greenery is the white side of the Forever Gold Laser-cut Specialty DSP.  Yes, I did fussy cut the vase, and it was super quick & easy!!

Using my Heat Tool, I embossed the sentiment from the Gorgeous Posies stamp set in Silver Stampin' Emboss Powder, then cut it using my Paper Trimmer.  I think popping up the sentiment & vase with Dimensionals gives amazing depth to the card.  Pretty!
