Stampin' Up! Blended Ink Technique & Blog Hop!

Hi friends and welcome to our mid-month blog hop!  Our theme this month is stamping techniques and it'll be awesome to see what everyone creates!

I chose the Blended Ink Technique which is one of my all-time fave techniques because no two backgrounds will look the same! That makes me happy!!  There are no elaborate tools required - just Sponge Daubers.

I started with Whisper White cardstock, approximately 4 1/2 x 5 3/4, which is bigger than I need, but it gives me options as to where I'll place the die.  When I blend, my preference is to start with the darker colours first, and always starting off the paper to remove some of the ink before moving onto the Whisper White cardstock.  Once all the ink is applied, I flick a wee bit of water onto the paper.

Tip:  Go easy on the water.  Less is more.

Ink I used for blending

Next, using Smoky Slate, I stamped the floral image from Tasteful Touches onto Whisper White cardstock,  The leaf from Loyal Leaves is stamped in Shaded Spruce.  A quick fussy cut and it's on to the next step - embossing the Whisper White layer.  A little texture goes a long way, and the Tasteful Touches 3D Embossing Folder adds a subtle fabric-like feel to the paper.

This card lends itself to many occasions such as birthday, anniversary get well, and so many others.  It seems my mood often dictates what I choose.  While making the card I was thinking of my parents and reminiscing of many good times we had over the years.  Thus 'missing you'.  The sentiment is from Loyal Leaves, which I  heat embossed onto Vellum using Gold Stampin' Emboss Powder.  Both the sentiment and blended layer were cut using Stitched Rectangle Dies.

Using Multipurpose Liquid Glue, I adhered the embossed layer onto the card base, which is Whisper White Thick. Then I cut the leaf in half and used a Glue Dot to attach the pieces to the flower, and more Glue Dots to adhere them to the blended layer.  I looped Gold Trim from the Forever Greenery Trim Combo Pack, and unravelled both ends.  Then cut another piece of trim to add another whipsy bit.  All were adhered to the second flower using Glue Dots.  And that flower is popped up on Dimensionals.  The sentiment was adhered using Glue Dots, which are hidden under the flower and also under the 'g' and the 'y', which you can't see because I cut the Glue Dot in half.  😊

Playful Pets Scrappy Strip Technique & Blog Hop!

Isn't this the cutest paper ever!!  My first thought when I saw it in the catalogue - I NEED this paper! And, when I heard about Kylie & Bruno Bertucci's #scrappystriptechnique Challenge I knew Playful Pets DSP would be perfect!

I love this technique - it's fun and it's easy!  Cut strips on a bit of an angle and arrange them on a backing piece.  If you haven't decided on the size of this layer, you can always cut it down once all the strips are dry.

This card was screaming for heat embossing, so I took the Thank You and I'll be right by your side from Loyal Leaves and Queen Anne's Lace respectively.  The banner ends on the Thank You were cut using the Banner Triple punch.  For the second sentiment I used one of the Tasteful Labels dies.

I don't have the coordinating dies as of yet, so I fussy cut this cutie pie!  He's layered on Playful Pets DSP, which I cut using one of my Stitched Shapes dies.  The Real Red scallopped piece was cut using a Layering Circles die.

This is a pretty 'busy' card, so to give a bit of separation, I added a strip of Real Red cardstock that I had embossed using the Dainty Diamonds 3D folder.   What a great texture & pattern!

Let's not forget about the cats in the Playful Pets DSP!  The 'cat' card is featured in my video!  Be sure to check it out!

Stampin' Up! Loyal Leaves

I'm so happy you popped by my blog!  Today I have three fabulous card to share with you that were all made using the Loyal Leaves stamp set!

First up is this simple, pretty card!  I heat embossed using White Stampin' Emboss Powder onto Basic Black cardstock.  The layer is from the In Colour 6 x 6 Designer Series Paper, as is the sentiment piece, and used Tuxedo Black Memento Ink for the Thank You.  I used Whisper White cardstock for the base to keep the main focus on the embossed leaves.

Tip:  if you don't yet heat emboss, stamp the leaves using our Whisper White Pigment Ink

Like the first card, the leaves are heat embossed.  This time though, I added colour using Sponge Daubers & various inks: Poppy Parade, Just Jade and Crushed Curry.  For added interest, I cut the leaf layer on an angle and layered it onto Whisper White, that had been embossed using the Dainty Diamonds 3D Embossing Folder.  I am lovin' the look of sentiments stamped onto DSP - and for ths card I used the Neutrals 6 x 6 DSP.  The cardbase in Basic Gray compliments this card beautifully!

Tip:  once you've added colour to the leaves, use a rag to take off the excess ink

If I had to pick a favourite today...this card is it!  The richness of the colours against the black and gold - wow!  In my video (below) I show you how to make each card, and you'll see how each card came together.  It's so much fun playing with colours - and easy - I promise!
