Humming Along with a Special Sale-a-bration & Occasions Blog Hop!

Happy, happy Tuesday, and thank you for stopping by today for our Stampin' Symphony blog hop!  We're all so excited to share projects using Occasions & Sale-a-bration products!  Have you heard of Sale-a-bration?  These are exclusive FREE products you can get with a $60 or $120 order!  Wow!

It wasn't easy choosing which set to use, but ultimately, the Humming Along Bundle won, that is, with my son's help.  I showed him several cards & asked which he liked best. He loves bright colours, so it was apparently an easy choice!  Let's check out my card!

Bright and vibrant - not exactly my 'norm', but I really like it!  Honestly, my Stampin' Blends have taken a back seat for too long, however really I found colouring relaxing, so predict more colour in the near future.

Oh how I wish you could see the Wink of Stella.  The sweet little hummingbird has a subtle sparkly face & neck and looks so pretty!

You know me - I love when Stampin' Up! uses more than one font in a sentiment!  And layering a sentiment on FREE Sale-a-bration paper makes me happy!  I used the gorgeous Grapefruit Grove Foil paper - check out the holographic look of the paper!

I brought in stamps from other sets to complete the inside of the card.  From the versatile 'Well Said' set, I chose Sending Healing Thoughts Your Way, and from 'Needle & Thread' I stamped the lovely flourish.

Did you notice the raised bits behind the hummingbird?  That's one of the awesome dies from the Humming Along Bundle and it provides an interesting texture!

I'd love to hear from you, so leave me a comment!

Goals are Good, and a Thank You card!

Just like many of you, I set goals for myself.  Attainable, realistic, but still a bit of a 'reach' goals. The goal I've set relates to my Stampin' Up! business. And, when I reach a goal, I celebrate!  You are very much a part of the goal and the celebration!  Here's the scoop - starting April 3/18, when you place an order, your name will be entered in a draw.  When I reach my Stampin' Up! business goal, I'll draw a name, and the winner will get a FREE stamp set.   This is open to Canadian residents only.

Ooooh! There's more!!  Every Tuesday I do a Facebook Live video on my Lolly & Sand Group.  When you share my video with your friends, you get a ballot for my weekly Happy Mail draw.  And, if you place a $35 or more order & share my video - you get 2 ballots!  The video stays on Facebook, so you can watch it anytime.

Hey....how about a card!  This is one of the cards I made on my FB live video.

My son asked me how I got a wood grain look on this card.  I used Wood Textures DSP - a 'must have' stack of paper, great for cards & home decor projects!  This particular piece of paper is actually quite light in colour.  I wanted it to be blue like the card base, so I rolled my Sponge Brayer onto my Marina Mist ink pad, then onto the paper.  An easy peasy change-up!
I've never done heat embossing during my videos, that is until April 3.  If you're new to heat embossing, this technique is magic!  Or not LOL.  What it is, is easy and fun!
Your first step when heat embossing is to use your embossing buddy (see product list below), to wipe across the  paper.  It helps remove static.  I used a stamp from one of my all-time favourite stamp sets - Lovely as a Tree.  The sentiment is from the Petal Palette set in the Occasions catalogue.
Next step - ink up the stamp using Versamark, then stamp onto your paper.  You won't be able to see the stamped image very well, but that's okay - the image is there. 😊
Your next step is to 'pour' your embossing powder onto the paper. Make sure to pour out lots!  Now you'll see the image, as the embossing powder sticks to the Versamark.  Tap the extra powder off the card onto a piece of scrap paper, or whatever you choose to collect the powder, and put it back into the container.  The 'magic\ happens when you use your heat tool.  Be really really careful - heat tools give off, well, heat, and lots of it!
That's pretty much it.  The base of the card is Soft Sky (I didn't have Marina Mist card stock), and the layer is Copper Foil paper.

The dimensions are available on my video.

Thank you for stopping by!  Your comments & support mean so much to me!

Brusho meets Petal Burst

There are so many great things going on right now, I could burst!  First up - I've been invited to be a vendor at a fundraising event this weekend for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society of Canada.

The most exciting time for Stampin' Up! is Sale-A-Bration (SAB), and that's for the following reasons:
  • This is the very best time to join the fun! During SAB. not only do you get to choose $165 in products for just $135 (no tax or shipping costs), you also get to choose TWO free stamp sets of any value from either the Annual or Occasions catalogues.  That's a fabulous deal you shouldn't miss!
  • In addition, by joining now, you'll get to see the next annual catalogue & get your hands on some of the products a month before it goes live!  Woot!
  • During SAB for every $60 you spend, you get to choose an amazing SAB item....AND, new items have been added!!  Click here to see the SAB goodies!
Don`t miss out - Sale-A-Bration ends on March 31.  Join the fun, save big time and let`s get creative!!

I'm also becoming more and more confident doing my weekly Tuesdays at Two Facebook Live Video and demonstrating stamping techniques!  Here's a couple of cards from my most recent video.

Recently I saw video from a UK demo named Linda Dalke and thought, oh boy I have give this a try!  Brusho Crystal Colour from Stampin' Up! comes in 5 colours, and for this project, I chose Yellow and Prussian Blue.  I opened my Petal Burst embossing folder, and sprinkled the Yellow Brusho from the top of the folder to mid-way, and then did the same with the Prussian Blue Brusho, but from the bottom of the folder, to mid-way.  Next, I spritzed water onto the folder, activating the Brusho crystals, then I place a piece of watercolour paper onto the wet side of the folder.  I closed the folder, used a bit of pressure to ensure the paper was saturated, then removed the paper.  There was lots of colour and water in the folder, so I did the same steps with a second piece of watercolour paper.  It`s amazing to see the colours mix and know that every piece will be unique!
Tip:  you can also use Stampin`Up! Shimmery White cardstock

This card in the pic above and below is the second print from a Brusho & embossing folder technique.

As this is the 2nd print, it didn't have as much colour as the 1st print, so I was thinking hmmm...I wonder what would happen if I used a baby wipe to swirl the wet Brusho around the paper.  Well, it`s pretty darn cool, if I do say so myself. *smiles*

This is the 1st print from the Brusho and embossing folder.  I am in L-O-V-E!  Does the picture do justice to this card...noooooo, but I hope you think it`s cool and want to give this technique a try!

Last but not least, I want to tell you about another great promo!

Heat Embossing, New Sale-A-Bration items & a Blog Hop!

Whew! That's a big post title, and that's because there's a whole lot of everything going on, including new Sale-a-Bration Items!!  Read on....

It's the 15th of the month, thus it's blog hop time! Woot!

The challenge this month's blog hop was to create a card, gift box, or home decor item and use heat embossing, plus use Sale-A-Bration (aka SAB) and/or Occasions products.

My fun decor piece would be perfect for a teenager or pre-teen.  I used Epic Celebrations (from SAB) for all the images, which I heat embossed in silver.

The background paper is one design in the super gorgeous Springtime Foil DSP (from SAB).  The paper actually has a white background and silver foil lines, and by dragging my Cherry Cobbler ink pad across the paper, I was able to get the look I wanted!  Pretty cool, eh!!
As you can see, I added a pop of colour to two of the images.  I used my Cherry Cobbler (light) Stampin' Blend.
My Layering Ovals and Layering Circle Framelits got a good workout on this project, as did my Dimensionals & Foam Adhesive Strips - great adhesives and perfect when you want to add height and dimension to a project!  I stacked the adhesives from 2 to 4 layers, varying the height of each image and the sentiment.

Oh yes, I'm lovin' this challenge!!
I bought this 5 x 7 frame from a dollar store, and it was okay, but just wasn't quite right. Sooooo....I silver heat embossed the frame!  Oh, you heard me correctly!!  The image I randomly stamped around the top of the frame is from a SAB stamp set called Eclectic Expressions.
Word of caution when heat embossing on metal - metal conducts heat, so if you try this, be very careful, the metal will be hot and trust me, you won't want to burn your fingers.

Ta da!  The finished piece!
The frame is a bit 'edgy', which is what I wanted, plus it really helps to bring all this fun together!

Three of the products I used are FREE through Sale-A-Bration. Place a qualifying order and choose your FREE reward!  To find out more, click here.   If you have any questions or need help placing your order, feel free to contact me.

I would love to hear your thoughts on this piece, so please leave me a comment.
